Irish Company Building Augmented Reality for Samsung

Irish company VRAI have developed an augmented reality (AR) app for Samsung UK & Ireland as part of the launch of their new Galaxy S10 phone range.

The Galaxy S10 is Samsung’s most advanced phone yet and the augmented reality capability of the device is a key feature.  The Galaxy S10 is launching to great fanfare this evening at 7pm at the Samsung ‘Unpacked’ launch events in London & San Francisco, with thousands of journalists and tech enthusiasts expected to attend.

This is the third AR project VRAI have worked on with Samsung and the highest profile to date. Commenting on the release of the app VRAI Managing Director Niall Campion said:

“The S10 is a fantastic phone and we are proud to have created an app that compliments it in terms of its beauty, functionality and technological ability. I think the app will really help customers to understand and interact with Samsung’s product range.”

The app allows you to use augmented reality to ‘place’ Samsung’s range of phones, tablets and wearables on any flat surface you point the phone at. It allows users to compare the key features of the phones, the sizes, colours and USPs.

The concept behind the app was a functional one tackled in an innovative way. Samsung Electronics Ltd are one of the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturers and have an extensive catalogue of devices. This app allows users to have the entire catalogue in their pocket.

Commenting on the launch of the app Samsung’s Business Development Manager Cathy O’Flaherty said:

“At Samsung we pride ourselves on innovation and customer choice, this app is a perfect blend of both and shows the capability of the Galaxy S10 range. We are delighted to be working with VRAI, they are an innovative Irish company who have delivered a great app to complement our new phone.”

VRAI have also done some eye-catching work with the United Nations, ESB International, Royal College of Surgeons Ireland and the Irish Defence Forces that has led to them being part of Enterprise Ireland’s High Potential Start Up unit. VRAI are also part a Med-Tech research consortium led by the Tyndall Institute that was successful in securing investment from the Irish Government’s flagship Disruptive Technology Innovation Fund (DTIF).

VRAI are currently raising investment to help them grow their company with their target being €1m turnover and 10 employees in 18 months. VRAI were founded in August 2017 and have four full time and three part time employees based in Dublin’s South William St.
